So, being a sixteen year old you would've thought I would be "Down" with all the "Hip" language. I'm not, infact it confuses me. I mean some of it there is no real meaning to it, it's just there to use and to say to people. Normally, when I find out a text abbreviations, I will say it to my friends and see if they know, they don't. The look on their face however, priceless.
My mother usually texts me using this "Down and hip" language, I will just stand there looking at my phone, scratching my head with confusion and uttering "Huh?" under my breath.
I literally just googles Text language and meanings - I have too much spare time - I understand the basics:
KK - Okay
TTYL - Talk to you later
Pls/Plz - Please
Thx - Thanks (Or ty - Thank you)
Lol, Omg - Laugh out loud, oh my god. Etc.
But now, looking at the new abbriviations I've never even heard of, my brain hurts.. only slightly. - It's the last day of term, give me a break. - Looking at a website for "The older generation that may not understand text language" These things came up, some I don't think anyone would generally use unless they were too lazy to text properly.
LTHTT - Laughing too hard too type
CWOT - Complete waste of time
POV - Parents over shoulder
KPC - Keeping Parents clueless.
The more recent ones I have actually heard of are things that are used day to day:
Lol, K, LY, Pls, Thx, Ahah. - All the ones I can actually recall hearing or using.
Turning around and saying LY to someone is another way of "expressing your love" My opinion, lazy. I think if you love someone you should show it to them properly. Send a decent text saying "I love you." Simple, not too much to write and it means a whole lot more than two letters, squashed together, that have only a slight meaning.
People who use text language should either teach others around what it means or give them a sheet of paper/leaflet/book/bible of all the different words there are, just so people can look them up, have a smile on their face, without the whole blank, looking like a unentertained, confused monkey, it would help, Pls?!
